Arturo Lopez, Jr., DDS
Dr. Lopez was born and raised in south Texas. In 2013, he moved to Tennessee in search of a peaceful environment for his family. The rivers, lakes, lush green landscape and mountains nearby, along with its friendly people, all attracted him to this area, which he now calls home.
Dr. Lopez received his dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003. He graduated with honors and received recognition for excellence in clinical dentistry. In 2005, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, where he received training in procedures such as implant placement, wisdom teeth removal and gum surgeries. Dr. Lopez considers his patients’ comfort of utmost importance and is therefore oral and IV sedation certified.
For four years, Dr. Lopez served as clinical professor in the Department of General Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During his tenure as faculty, he taught several courses, including Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and conducted various research projects.
Dr. Lopez is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association and the Chattanooga Area Dental Society.

Dr. Arturo James Lopez was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico on April 21, 1948 and died on December 25, 2020 at the age of 72.
His elementary and high school schooling were completed in the city of Tampico and Montemorelos. Following in the footsteps of his father and older sister, he studied dentistry at the University of Monterrey.
In 1974, he moved to the United States to receive a doctorate degree in Dental Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry. His career began in Rio Grande Valley, TX, where he served for more than 45 years.
In July 28, 1991, he married Zonia Riffel Lopez, with whom he was married for 29 and a half years. They had three children, Arturo Jr, Sebastian and Carolina.
God was always Arturo's first priority and this was reflected in the spirit of service with which he approached every undertaking. One of his biggest dreams was realized by participating in the establishment of the Dental School of the University of Montemorelos. His generosity with his time and resources was reflected in his collaboration in dental clinics, missionary trips, Christian education and local church ministries.
After his retirement, he moved to Chattanooga, TN to practice dentistry with his son Arturo Jr. and enjoy the company of his family.
Dr. Lopez’s passions were God, family, and dentistry, in this order. In his last moments he assured his family that he was "right with God and with his fellow men".
Dr. Lopez leaves behind a legacy of selfless service and impeccable professionalism. It is our privilege to strive to live up to this high standard.
